Senior/Manager Tax and Accounting Generalist

Brown, Kaplan & Liss, LLP has an opening for a senior to manager level tax and accounting professional to provide and supervise tax planning, analysis and compliance as well as accounting services for a large range of privately held businesses, high income/net worth individuals, not-for-profits, trusts and estates.  Although this is not an audit position, some auditing/accounting experience will be helpful.

 

This is a generalist position.  Accordingly, the position requires the following in depth knowledge:

 

·                       individual income tax return preparation, tax planning strategies, self-employment taxes, home office, car, entertainment and other schedule C and form 2106 deductions, taxation and uses of Keogh and IRA plans and taxation of investments of all types

·                       partnership income tax return preparation, the application of IRS Code Sections 704(b), 704(c) and 754, uses of partnerships, LLC's and LLP's and the application of tax planning strategies for those entities

·                       subchapter S income tax return preparation, tax planning strategies for subchapter s corporations, uses of subchapter S corporations, built-in gains taxation and shareholder basis issues

·                       trust and estate income tax return preparation, types and uses of trusts, distributable net income, trust accounting rules, deductibility of trust distributions and taxation of trust distributions to beneficiaries

·                       C corporation taxation, uses of C corporations, including consolidated tax returns, medical reimbursement plans and C corporation tax planning strategies

·                       types and uses of business retirement plans, the ability to identify opportunities for their effective use and the ability to work with pension consultants and actuaries to implement and maintain client retirement plans and goals

·                       taxation, uses and implementation of section 125 plans

·                       taxation and uses of section 529 plans, minors trusts and transfers to minors
