Neil Johnson joined the BKL team in February 2001, returning to public accounting after spending five years pursuing other interests. Neil is thrilled to be working with a group of highly skilled, experienced professionals.

A graduate of Loyola University of Chicago and a CPA since 1988, Neil built a diversified tax, accounting and financial consulting practice serving primarily advertising agencies and other graphic arts businesses. In 1996, Neil sold his practice of over 300 business and individual clients.

During his five years outside public accounting, Neil was a management consultant to the food service industry. His clients included Michael Jordan’s Restaurant and Compass Group USA, Inc.

Neil also served on the board of directors for David Bruce & Company, a software developer for the financial markets and was instrumental in its successful sale to First Options of Chicago. His experience includes work in the tax department at The Northern Trust Company and as a Tax Manager for CTS Financial Group, Inc. Neil was also an arbitrator for Arbitration Forums, Inc.

An award-winning (but modest) chef, Neil also enjoys running marathons, bike racing and downhill skiing—and even admits to a one-time bungee jump.
